Pathway at Two Mile House, oil, 9 x 12, Lyn O'Neal

This was the little scene that captured my attention at the Two Mile House on Monday when several of us painted en plein air. I was attempting to capture light without the sky in the scene. I also liked all the linear aspects. I tried to keep it simple and within 3 hours.

Hi Lyn - looks like you met your objectives quite well. I really like your roof on the building and your shadows.

Another successful painting from our morning at Two Mile House. The arbor with the grape vines is so well done and I love your copper roof.

This turned out great Lyn! I love your composition...how the pathway leads the viewer into the painting, and the lines of the fence are repeated in the arbor. I had fun painting with you and enjoy seeing another artist's interpretation of the site.

I enjoy painting with everyone as well and watching each canvas come to life. Thanks for the nice comments.

Lyn, you were very successful at infusing this scene with light without painting any sky. This is a wonderful composition, and those boxwood hedges are painted so well! Hope you got my email about Two Mile House (Cumberland County Historical Society) wanting to exhibit our paintings there at the McLain Celtic Festival in October 2011.
