Day 45
This painting was done on sight at the
Kings Gap State Park this past Wednesday.
I had come home from painting, tucked my plein air
equipment away and completely forgot that my painting was
still in my pochade box (it's been a very busy week!)
Kings Gap is such a beautiful place. I can not begin to
describe the joy it is to paint there with butterflies and
dragonflies drifting around the flowers - and that's
just the garden.

The lights are exceptionally rendered, Claire. I really like what I'd describe as a "breezy" style. Perfect for this garden!
So glad you remembered this painting--solid composition with a good mix of interesting negative and positive spaces.
Thanks so much Dianne and Cecelia.
Lovely painting. King's Gap State Park is one of my favorite places also.
Really nice little painting Claire. Kings Gap is one of my favorite places for inspiration, and your painting shows it off well!
Claire, I almost missed this post! It was great to paint with you that day. You ended up with a beautiful piece. I just want to walk back that little path and smell the flowers!

We went there with Irina the very same day, but later... I wanted try a watercolor this time, took everything, but brushes and had to go back to pick it up... Monumental trip! :-) Didn't have time to finish my own painting, will have to do at home sometime. Of course I finished painting not the park, but pond.. nothing new here! I most of time trying to paint something 'wild" It was a great day, just too bad we were so late and totally missed everybody.
I love the Kings Gap Garden; it's such a beautiful, peaceful place. Lovely painting!
