Good day in the studio, David Bottini, paintings "for Gabriel"

I laid in two new sketches yesterday and enjoyed a good day, since early morning, in the studio. The heat and humidity outdoors made it easy to remain indoors - seeking to put some of the wonderful sun and breeze of earlier spring into a canvas.
This small (8 X 10") piece has been a whirlwind ... the glow of the light and saturated and contrasting palette held my interest for many hours. I pushed the arch and curve motif and still need to work back into the massing of the foreground leaves and the flicker of light that flows through the middle and foreground. This is along The Potomac River from back in late May - when we had such frequent rain and breezy spring days.

I love the clarity in your work. Tackling such a scene can result in clutter and confusion. You take the scene and create a perfect composition. This reminds me of my favorite park that is located in Cape May County New Jersey.

I also love the composition and that strong diagonal movement--the execution is, as always, perfect.

Just read your comment on my stripe painting--thank you for recognizing my attempt to convey the slightly worn appearance of the building.

I am always inspired by the curvature and leaning of trees. They are reaching for the light I suppose. Your sense of light is certainly worth the reach.

Thanks for the kind words and thoughtful comments. I always enjoy hearing from other artists.
I will post the painting again when it is complete.
