"Letter from Home" by Michael LeKites

Another of my Civil War themed works. Acrylic, 22x28. "My Dearest Sarah" (which I had posted previously) was originally painted to accompany this painting. I had exhibited this a few years ago in Lock Haven and someone suggested I paint another work of his wife reading a letter from him. So, that was the original purpose of "My Dearest Sarah" but during the painting of that work I decided I didn't want them to be a pair. I really didn't feel that they went together. This won First Place in the Wellsboro regional show, 2003.

Amazing detail-I like the solitary figure---the relaxed pose--head down--very poignant.

Love the angle of the head, while reading the letter. Adds to the drama. Great detail work!
