"Splangler Farm, rear lot" by Dianne Lorden

Pastel, 9" x 12"
Unframed, $75
Last year, I painted a view from this battlefield farmstead's other side, au plein air. But I was intrigued by the combination of brick and stone on the back of the house, so I took photos of that. (Felt funny setting up to work in the yard, as it's lived in by an NPS ranger. From the other side, I was set up along the trailside.) Every view of this place looks entirely different, and all are wonderfully interesting.

Dianne, I find this piece just beautiful and playing to all my romantic notions of rural life, right down to the dreamy quality of the piece. Gorgeous palette too!
