Peach and Blue Iris by Linda Young

These iris had only two days of sunshine in their blooming lifetime and were full of buds for flowers to come.  They would have made a glorious daily display of color if only they had the chance to do so.  It wasn't to be their season, though, with the hail storm beating them down; not a petal was left.  However, I have to tell you, one tiny blue bud must have been hiding beneath the green foliage and has now pushed itself into the sunlight to show off what the others couldn't.  Here's my painted watercolor memorial to the Peach and Blue Iris done on a reworked piece of watercolor paper. Memorial to flowers #6

This is so beautiful, Linda. Bless your mother for having the insight to suggest you take pictures of your flowers.
