I found this tree in Boiling Springs one early spring afternoon. Is there anything more "lively" than a tree with all its branches and twigs exposed? A friend suggested that I paint the tree as it
looked in all the seasons. I thought it was a great idea, but when I went back that summer, the same tree looked like a large, lifeless lump--was not inspiring. I may try to find and paint it this fall.

Very strong painting! It reminds me of an Andrew Wyeth painting, Pennsylvania Farm? I agree that it is probably more interesting without all the leaves. We can see all the wonderful structure that gives this painting character.
Beautiful work, Cecilia.
I'm not big fan of acrylics (sometimes I personally feel I cannot paint a fence with it!), but this your work is something special. Tree is looking magnificent. Colors are very natural. I simply like it.
Thank you both--Your observations and positive comments mean a lot to me.
I also like this tree. Sometimes the time of day, light, sky... can make or break a painting. I hope you find that it all comes together the next time you go looking for this tree. It certainly worked for this painting.
What great drawing!
Boiling Springs is a treasure for every artist. Great job on the branches that are coming toward the viewer.
