Pastel (9"x12")
I switched from uncoated pastel paper to Colourfix coated paper and was anxious to try it out. This chair in my sitting room, catching morning light on Saturday, seemed as good a subject as any; the shadows looked like fun. For this study, I chose a deep reddish-brown paper and put most of my attention on the cushion and drapes; the rest is just sort of a vignette.
I think I love this product; it really takes the pigment well - sticks and Conte, soft and hard - and it erases great, too! (Which is really nice.)
Maria, thank you for suggesting using the back of the Canson paper; I'll check that out, too!

Great piece Dianne!
An exquisitely beautiful vignette, Dianne. I love how you've handled the shadows on the chair seat too. The colors take me to soft and gentle time in history...Just lovely!
What wonderful, soft light - this is beautiful, Diane!
That is a very inviting chair and bathed in that soft light, it just calls gently to come sit a spell......
I can tell you enjoyed working on this. Clean and soft where it needed to be.
Love the play between light and shadows, Dianne. Nice warm, inviting piece.
Nice pastel.
I loved this painting. Your chair fretwork with shadows is perfect.
