Thom, this is a beautiful landscape. Your trees and that stone wall-wonderful. It was great talking to you and Mary today. Thanks for the info-I will let you know where it goes!

Such detail, Thom! Is crescent watercolor board like or the same as Clayboard for watercolor?

no,not at all. I switched from 400 lb Arches to watercolor board because I am able to move the painting around easily. I mainly paint 12" x 12" or smaller. I use a board with a right hand area for testing color, etc.

I have switched over on a lot of my paintings to using Crescent Mat Board that is the exact board I use in matting. I has a slightly different texture, but acts very similar to watercolor board. It is thinner and easier to use. I paint more with the painting sideways or upside down to see if I am getting the effects that I want in a painting.

But - the Crescent Watercolor Board is true watercolor paper on a stiff board. One issue is that it is not Museum quality paper. The Mat Board I paint on is.

You've done a wonderful job with this, Thom. The tree has a terrific presence.
