We returned from 2 months in Florida yesterday--back into winter; and as much as I LOVE Ron's Pittsburgh winter scene, I felt the need to enter a painting of a warmer, breezier setting. This was done from photos I took one summer day in South Hampton, Long Island, New York. It is of an old boathouse. I loved seeing through the building to the other side of the waterway.
Strong darks and light, defining geometric shapes, grasses blowing in the breeze--all fun things to paint.

This so reminds me of the 'outer most house' along the coast of Cape Ann as we view it form the top of Halibut Point....Ahhh, I want to be there now...but only if it is warm...which of course it is not!

This would be a great studio. Hmmm. Solitude and nothing to do but paint and enjoy God's creations.
