'Sun-Kissed'
Oil 12 x 16
NFS
This is one of two paintings I plan to enter into
Lemon Show.
We were in North Carolina visiting my cousins
along the Southern Outer Banks when I took some
photographs of my little grandaughter as she was
sitting in the sunlight pulling books out of a
basket. I knew that someday I would have to
paint that sweet baby skin, even knowing that
in about 10 years she will probably be annoyed
with her artist Grandma...but she'll get over it.
This is probably the only time this painting will
ever be out in public...it is going to be a 30th
birthday present for the wonderful man who
is married to my wonderful daughter. :)

A family treasure for sure, Claire! I love those shadows skipping over the floor and onto grandbaby and the steps echoing that pattern.
Thank you Bertie. I hope my grandbaby in her birthday suit is not offensive to anyone. There is so much love there, and I hope it shows through the painting. It was such a precious moment - and so fleeting. I am really glad I took the photos. She is already three, and all too quickly slipping out of the baby phase. This time goes by so fast...and I have treasured every moment I have had being a grandmother.
Adorable. What a blessing to be able to capture this on canvas.
Thanks so much, Mary Beth.
I think this is one of my favorites of yours. It is so sweet. I love the sunlight coming in and sort of kissing her bottom. The colors are beautiful. It's a treasure.
