NOCTURNE WITH FIREFLIES
by Claire Beadon Carnell

'Nocturne with Fireflies'
Oil 9 x 12
From my very first encounter with one, I have
always been totally enchanted with fireflies.
They make a summer evening so magical, and
bring forth memories of running barefoot in the
cool grass trying to catch one of these little orbs of
light ever so carefully in cupped hands, then letting
it fly back up into the night sky. I can not imagine
Summer without them!

Thank you.

This is great! Who would think to paint those fireflies! It does make summer magical. Very nice painting Claire.

I have a picture window in my house overlooking the pastures and when my nephews visit we turn out all the lights at dusk and watch all the fireflies lighting up the night. I've wanted to paint that many times - you did a great job!

We called them lightening bugs! Now I lean towards calling them fireflies because it isn't what we called them growing up. Neither here nor there, but oh those summer memories! Gorgeous piece, Claire!

Fresh and original idea with the "lightening bugs" in the landscape. That is what we called them in North Western PA.
