"Fly By" Oil on Canvas by Charlotte Yealey

While fishing at the lake with my grandchildren last summer, we saw a great blue heron fly by several times. I just had to paint him. This is an 18 x 24 oil on canvas. This painting is available framed.

There is just such a regal look to these great birds. I've seen so many in my area since moving back here in 2000. I'd never noticed them as much when I used to live here growing up. Anyway, a truly beautiful painting and I am just drawn in by those deep and mysterious woods behind the heron.

I always think of herons as pre-historic creatures but your painting truly depicts their beauty and grace!

I agree with Autumn, those deep woods are very intriguing and well painted and really make that heron belong to the environment - Great!

You have painted him so well, Charlotte. He can be a beautiful, graceful bird for his size. However, he took one of our large Koi from our pond, so I'm not very happy with him or his relatives.LOL

Sorry - we are having a problem with the 'c' key on the laptop, and it tends to go wild when pressed!
