Tina's Haven, a work study in Oil, original painting by Rebecca Jennings (Sunny)

I arrived at my daughter's home the other day in late afternoon. The sunlight on her Japanese Maple made it glow at the very top, complimenting the roof and shutters of the home. I was inspired by the contrast with the cool colors of the Hosta plants at the base of the house foundation. The steps leading from the driveway to the back porch are always inviting, as are the luscious grapes that grow on her vines in the backyard later in summer.

An Older work Re-visited, Original Oil Painting by Rebecca Jennings

"Energy Lake, #2"
11" x 14"
 Oil on Canvas panel

The original painting was done in 2012 and I had never been quite sure if it was finished or not. I decided to try adding more life to it, hence the boat with fisher persons and a bit more reflections in the water. I also softened the tree line at the top right and defined the geese flying across the lake a bit more. I am more content with it now. When my grand-daughter visiting from New Jersey saw it, she absolutely loved it, so it is going to her home as soon as it is dry and can be varnished.

Spring Morning! an original oil painting by Rebecca Jennings (Sunny)

"I Love an Early Spring Morning!"
8" x 16"
Oil on stretched canvas
Detail...

I painted this in April and must have gotten side-tracked and forgot to post it. We were blessed with beautiful weather for April and the Red-winged blackbird was back at the pond. It made me so happy I had to paint something to express my joy!
 I hope you like it!

My Favorite Things #3, an original oil painting by Rebecca Jennings (Sunny)

"Afternoon Reflections"
12" x 12"
Oil on stretched canvas

This spinning wheel was a gift to me from my late husband. I loved the feel of the smooth wood of the wheel and paddle. I can imagine the raw carded wool of the sheep being made into yarn to knit warm clothing . I have passed this on to my eldest daughter who is a fiber artist, and has recently taken up spinning. Fond memories of quieter days!

Original Pastel Sketch by Rebecca Jennings

This is my first attempt at using soft pastels, a side trip from my usual Oil medium.
"Cabin at Wood's Edge"
8.5" x 11"
Soft Pastels on sketch pad paper

I am happy with the outcome so I think I will be pursuing work in this medium further. A nice switch time to time from oils, I think

My Favorite Things #1 - "Strings Attached", an Original oil painting by Rebecca Jennings (Sunny)

I am currently working on a series of "My Favorite Things", where memories of childhood days are the primary focus. Come along with me on my journey into the carefree days of a past, all-but-forgotten way of life.  Together we will reminisce and recreate happy times.

These  old skates hanging on a nail on the covered porch wall remind me of the kids of our little town meeting at Myers' pond to go skating several times during the winter. The bigger boys would shovel any new-fallen snow off the ice. Sometimes there would be a wood fire far back on the bank to warm our hands by. It was a regular meeting place for all the neighborhood, kids and adults alike.

Some of my paintings for sale. I also do commissions on a regular basis. You can see my other work at "Sunny's Fine Art Studio". Just click on the link.

"Royal Flush" - an Original Oil Painting by Rebecca Jennings (Sunny)

I took this picture of my backyard a few evenings before Christmas.  This place is a haven for me, with my hen houses and colorful chickens, the rabbit pens where I listen to my bunnies munching on greens, and my raised bed gardens where I can get my hands in the dirt and harvest some good homegrown food!
This sunset over my special place just begged to be painted!

Kentucky Snow!, an original Oil painting by Rebecca Jennings (Sunny)

"Kentucky Snow!"
8" x 10"
Oil on stretched canvas
The deer at our old home in Kentucky would come up near the big oak tree early in the mornings looking for acorns, then move on into the field near our neighbor's pond, which had been partially covered with ice. The deer seemed so tame and friendly... until we step outside.
The broom-sage in the back field gave off a lovely orange-ish glow in the early morning sunrise.

This painting has recently been Sold. If you would like to view more of my work, you can see it here at "Sunny's Fine Art Studio"

"Tranquility", an Original Oil Painting by Rebecca Jennings (Sunny)

"Tranquility"
10" x 20"
oil on stretched canvas

This scene is from a reference photo and a quick painting sketch I did last year on my winter RV trip. Biloxi MS is where my eldest daughter was born. I wanted to re-visit the beach I used walk to when she was a wee baby. As she loves water and beaches I painted this to hang in her coastal-color theme bedroom.

Last of my summer painting.... Original Oil Painting by Rebecca Jennings (Sunny)

Another trip to Fisherman's Cove yielded about 75% of this painting. The weather was so nice but started to get chilly late afternoon, I brought it home and finished in the studio. At least I think it is finished for now. I'll have to think about it .....

Independence Day Celebration, an Original Oil Painting by Rebecca Jennings (Sunny)

I painted this as a tribute to truck drivers everywhere, no matter if its a bread truck, gasoline, log truck, or freight. What would we do if the trucks ceased to roll. Our lives as we know them would stop suddenly. Produce and canned goods, clothing and hardware, would all disappear from the shelves of our favorite stores. We owe these drivers a debt of gratitude! They have a big part in keeping our United States of America moving forward!
"Still Rollin', The Red, White and Blue!"
 8" x 10"  Oil on Canvas Panel

This painting was inspired by a scene at a truck stop where I stopped on my way home from winter vacation this last spring. There they were, lined up right in front of me. My heart jumped, as the memories came flooding back of my late husband and I driving team, hauling military freight after 9-11. It was our privilege to serve our country in this way!

Desert Campfire - an Original Oil Painting by Rebecca Jennings (Sunny)

"Desert Campfire"
4" x 4" mini, oil on canvas panel

I love the glow of fire on a rock-built fire-pit, especially love it in the desert. I find the desert so peaceful, and was heading that way this winter. However, breakdowns and repairs got in the way. I ended up spending all my time in Texas this year. I am now looking forward to summer campfires at home in my own backyard.
