"Royal Flush" - an Original Oil Painting by Rebecca Jennings (Sunny)

I took this picture of my backyard a few evenings before Christmas.  This place is a haven for me, with my hen houses and colorful chickens, the rabbit pens where I listen to my bunnies munching on greens, and my raised bed gardens where I can get my hands in the dirt and harvest some good homegrown food!
This sunset over my special place just begged to be painted!

Painting Fall Foliage "plein air" in the Poconos by Cheryl Kugler

Last week, a small group of painters from the Susquehanna Valley Plein Air Painter's participated in an overnight "paint out" at Graystone Preserve in the Poconos. The preserve is located near Hickory Run State Park in eastern Pennsylvania.

The incredible views were mesmerizing and so were the gorgeous colors of the changing Fall foliage. It made it difficult to pick a scene to paint plein air. However, rain quickly narrowed down a painting spot - the big porch of our rented cabin.

Still fresh on the easel, here's the painting that came out of my hands onto canvas:

"Letort Rushing" By Debra Tritt Kreiger

"Letort Rushing" 5.5"x8.5" on 140lb paper
This was painted plein air looking down on the rushing water of the Letort waterfall as it prepares to meet the Conodoguinet Creek. What a beautiful November day we had. Every plein air painting is a challenge for me . I liked all the activity going on and the calm pool near the rocks. I think I captured the rush!

"Autumn by the Lake" 5.25"x8.25" watercolor on 140lb paper

This is a plein air painting I did while at Fuller lake painting with my friends. This is looking across the lake. The colors and light was awesome! It was a really beautiful fall day and just perfect for our painting and picnic!

"View from Negley Park" by Debra Tritt Kreiger

"View from Negley Park" 8.5"x7.5" watercolor on 140lb paper

This is a view from Negley park looking over at the Harvey Taylor Bridge. My mission that day was to choose the brightest fall tree I could find and paint it. I think I succeeded.

'Fall at Fuller Lake'

Seeing 'Fall Leaves at Fuller Lake ' by Claire Beadon Carnell
on the site today, reminded me of a commissioned piece I did
a couple of years ago. It is of a site at Fuller Lake where
the buyer proposed to his wife 35 years ago.

"Reflections of Autumn" by Debra Tritt Kreiger

"Reflections of Autumn" 10"x7.5" on 140lb Arches paper

This is a piece I did plein air painting at Fuller Lake last week. I finished the painting in my studio. It turned out to be almost abstract! So much activity going on in nature in the fall season. All the wonderful textures and colors. My senses seemed to go into overload! I thought this would be a different view as the last brightly colored leaves are hanging on and the branches are ever so close to the water. It was a beautiful day!

Sunflowers in Watercolor by Susan Gray

These were begun on site from the Ashcombe Farm Sunflower field. The size is 8x12 inches. I found the shapes of their bowed heads, withered petals, broad leaves and the jungle of foliage behind to be so interesting and a lot of fun to depict. See this painting at Art & Soul Gallery in Lemoyne, PA.
