"A Powerful Presence" By Debra Tritt-Kreiger

"A Powerful Presence"
Watercolor on Arches 140lb paper 12"x18"

This painting evolved from my love of wildlife. I also have a couple of friends who supplied me with photographs of grizzlies. This pose was the best at portraying such a grand creature. I also worked on the nice sunlight hitting his fur, and gave him varied color for interest.

Great painting- and brings the Grizzly to life. I love the way you have cropped the painting for dramatic affect. I just finished 2 art classes of sketching wildlife at Messiah College's Oakes Natural History Museum through Mechanicsburg Art Center. They have a great collection of North American and African animals to sketch from real animals - and they pose very still! They have a great bear collection. I did a study of a Cinnamon Bear, myself. I got interested in the class to do a painting of a buffalo for my sister- she lives in Buffalo, NY. It is a great way to study animals.
