"Wisteria, shining", Pastel. (Monet pond, Japanese Bridge)

"Wisteria, Shining", 8 x 10" Pastel on Wallis.

My latest pastel on mounted Wallis Belgium Mist paper.
My second try on this subject after small étude in Oils
I did previous year for the client.
I'm posting some progress steps for this painting... Enjoy!

Cecelia, I'm working on sanded paper mounted to heavy board. First stages are - pastel pencil (but could be stick of hard pastel instead), then I wash it with brush and organic solvent and we have something similar to monochromatic value map in watercolor. The Just finishing with softer pastel sticks. As most of my paintings - this is multi-layered process. I'm glad You enjoyd it.
