Thursday was another great day so I headed out to paint. This painting from the Gettysburg Battlefield was interesting. I wanted to capture a battlefield farm, monuments and the color of the fall grasses in the fields and autumn trees. I even kept in the cannon, which I honestly thought I might drop out, but that would have ruined the paintings story. Glad I put them in. Lots of tourists passed by and made it a pleasant day.

Larry..I like the use of aqua.
This adds a RETRO, step back in time quality
to this work. So NICE!

Thanks Sue. I mixed that aqua color for the weathered cannon but didn't want that color to be in only one spot so I used it in the grassy foreground. I played with color quickly in this painting and went with what felt right. I think I found a nice balance of warm and cool colors without being restricted or locked in by local color.

I like the clean and lively colors in this too.

Gettysburg is a great place to paint, Larry, and you have made it all your own with your distinct style!
