To the Sea by Jill Peckelun

To the Sea
9 x 12", oil en plein air
Jill Peckelun

Oh, the irony...  my first post on the Daily Painters of Pennsylvania is a plein air painting I recently did in...New Jersey.  6 of us artist friends rented a house for a week in Cape May- what a great time painting we had.  I did this piece on the last morning there.  I loved the crowds of people and the opportunity to paint a landscape I rarely see.  It really pushed me artistically: it was good to see a landscape with fresh eyes, but I didn't have my usual bag of tools in addressing a typical PA landscape.  Dealing with the fences at the beach was a composition challenge.  I tried to keep things simple, loosey goosey and light-hearted.

DITTO everyone's comments--I, also, first saw your work at the CH Pein Air event-this piece appears to be even more loose than others I have seen--really like it as well-fresh, expressive and "beachy"--looking forward to seeing more on DPP.

Welcome to DPP, Jill. I really like the looseness of this. You captured the subject well.
