Olson's Sunflowers by Mary Beth Brath

Eric and Nancy Olson's Sunflower Field
11x14" Acrylic on Canvas Panel
100% Plein Air

On Tuesday, 6 members of the Susquehanna Valley Plein Air Painters (5 were also DPP members) traveled to Port Royal PA to paint the Olson's sunflower field.  This is the second year in a row that we have been invited to share in the glory.

This painting was created in the morning. Note the heavy atmosphere.  We all enjoyed watching the fog slowly disappear above the mountains. I managed to complete the painting without getting caught up in value and color changes as the weather cleared.

Yes, I agree with Cecelia. This painting has a good feel for the moment and place and translates the sense of being on the spot during an August day.
