"Packaged Strawberries" by Taryn Day

oil on board
6"x7"

I've never painted strawberries before. I enjoyed this, but it was a challenge to get the right red colors and to include some of the detailed surface patterns without going overboard.

Taryn--Loose and luscious were two words that came to my mind right away. Wonderful loose brushwork that captured the different shapes of the overlapping strawberries cradled in that plastic container. Luscious reds and greens which further define the berries. No details needed to identify what the subject is. Pass the cream and sugar, please.

I agree with Cecelia..you captured the tactile qualities of the fruit and the plastic and still maintained your wonderful painterly style.

Me too. Fan that it. I especially like how you describe the plane changes on your forms. It really is a thing of beauty.
