Lady Freedom by Michael LeKites (work in progress)

I should have this finished in about a week or a little more.
One of a series of three works depicting our freedom to protest and the right to petition of government. Each of these paintings display a portion of one of the monuments that are a part of the Grant Memorial directly in front of the Capital. (The Grant Memorial is made up of 3 separate monuments). Acrylic (Life is short. Paint with acrylics!) 16x20.
Also, I will add, that the title is based on the statue atop our Capital. Her name is Lady Freedom.

The bright sky and clouds leads the eyes down to the crowd of people which are perfect. Very interesting composition. What is the white box on the bottom?

Wonderful post Michael. I love the plug about acrylics!

That will be a poster. I'm going to try to finish this today. The third and "final" (not "finale"-must pay more attention to spell check) painting of the series is a little over half way complete. But to add a little more to my previous comment, the third one won't be finished for sometime. After this I'm moving on to a Renaissance portrait and then I'll return to complete this series.
