At the Lake, Maria Kovalenko Leysens

The inspiration was given to me as a black and white photograph
with many boats and dock equipment...
I chose to simplify the background
which gave me an opportunity to play with the reflections.
Watercolor about 7 x 10 inches

Maria, the water is so wonderfully done! This is lovely and summery, and it's making me want to go on vacation already. (But we have to wait til later this summer).

Maria - I'm always delighted to check the blog and see your figurative paintings. This is another great piece.

Great portrait that stands by itself as a landscape without the beautiful portrait!

I have to admit that I love when figurative painting is integrated with landscape, especially when it is done as successfully as you have painted this. I am also so impressed with the skill with which you bring your own creativity and innate color sense to use a B&W photo reference to create this beautiful piece!

Living proof that all you need to see are values....and it can be painted in any color. You did this so successfully, I almost want to pull out my black & whites from B&W Photography class and try some. The opererative words are, "almost want to". LOL
