PUSSYWILLOWS
by Claire Beadon Carnell

'Pussywillows'
Oil 5 x 7

A sure sign of Spring...had to paint these
quickly before they popped beyond their soft
greyness. These always remind me of my childhood,
and knowing that warm days were coming when
we started seeing the pussywillows bloom.

If you would like to see more of my work
please feel free to visit my website or

I looked at this and immidiately thought, "A sure sign of spring." Then I read your post found out that we think alike! I like the dark background against the soft grays.

Pussywillows are a favorite of mine, too. You've captured their fuzzy individuality! (I was a bit sad to see how quickly they turned yellow this year. I'd just bought a funky vase in an antique shop and filled it with pussywillows at their peak, just like yours. I'm so glad I did it!)
