This was originally sketched onto scrap paper while I held a mirror.. looking at the image in front of me.
It was difficult to get the white balance and colors to photograph correctly on this painting. The purples and oranges are brighter and the lower right corner is really white next to the hair. Since both my Mother and John and a few people I showed this to in the salon today told me I looked so serious, I thought I'd put it into the title of the painting. If I do another one, I guess I'd better do one with a smile on my face for my Mom!

Linda, I really don't know you so I can not tell if this portrait looks like you but I really like this painting and I hope when I try a self portrait, it turns out this good.
I like your color choices. It gives the painting so much warmth.
Thank you Charlotte, I think one eye and the nose resembles me!! lol
This is lovely, Linda!
I really think it turned out wonderfully -- I particularly like the colors you used and your handling of the hair: mostly shape and just a few details. I'm certainly impressed!
The "seriously" you added based on the comments you received made me chuckle. You were no doubt quite studious as you worked, and it came across to the viewer of the finished product as a slightly different interpretation. A study in human nature all around! Great painting.
Thank you, all.
I was born in the summer on the hottest day in July. so my mother tells me. I figure that's why I've put the warm "summer" colors in this painting.
Yes, that's me; studious (once in awhile)
...about the character lines; they really do say something about the person's life
An excellently done watercolor portrait!
Beautifully done, Linda. You have created a very sensitive, introspective self-portrait - great work!
