'Around the Bend'
Oil 6 x 8
Finished this little painting yesterday. This is the
left side of Miller's Island on East Pond. We used to
take the boat around here to get a better look at the loons
who seemed to like the little cove behind the trees.
We would cut the motor on the boat, and the loons
would let us get pretty close before performing their
interesting disappearing act of diving into the water
and resurfacing at least a hundred yards away...

Having spent a great deal of time in Maine, while living in NH, I have enjoyed this series of paintings very much. You have captured the essence of the Maine landscapes beautifully. This is my favorite!
Will we get to see a loon painting, Claire? This so reminds me of the islands in the Susquehanna....we would see more egrets, though. LOL
Love the sky Claire. I am really enjoying the warm season paintings.
