"A Winters Day" by Debra Tritt-Kreiger

"A Winters Day"
10"x14" watercolor on 140lb arches paper

I painted this painting from a scene right outside my studio window. It was one of those cold dreary snowy days and this bright little fellow came to visit. It is no wonder people just love the warm colorful sight of a cardinal in winter.

What a beautiful painting, Debra. It sure typifies a Pennsylvania winter's day.

I saw this in person at Gallerie 13, and loved it the minute I saw it! Your wonderfully painted cardinal just shines in this winter background.

This is such a beautiful painting, and truly, the first cardinal in winter painting that I've just instantly loved. The close vs. distant perspective is wonderful, the colors phenomenal!

Amazingly graceful rendering of a heavy wrought iron plant holder against a muted snowscape

Thank you all for the wonderful comments. I enjoy working with a limited palette. Looks like I might be able to get some more snow scene reference pictures today!
