I did this painting from one of the many photos I took on my first trip to Sedona, Arizona in 2006. The skies are amazingly volatile in that region and everywhere you look there is a vista waiting to be painted. This vista, however, is still sitting in my studio closet. I've had it in a couple of galleries, but no buyers. So, as painfull as it is, I have decided to paint over it. I can use the canvas for some other project. I wanted to give it a last chance to be viewed, before I bid it a fond farewell. Thank you for this opportunity to say a "few last words".
I will be away for a while in FLA. I'll be able to check the blogs and even blog myself, although I will not be able to post an image. All my pictures are on our desktop, not our laptop. Iwill be bringing my paints and may try some plein air paintings. Bye for now.

Yikes - hate to think you would paint over this beautiful painting! Hope you have a great time in Florida, and I will be looking forward to seeing more of your work when you come back.
I like this... your colors and brushwork are just right. I will be thinking about you in warmer weather while I trudge (is that a word?) through the snow.
I am with Claire on this one. This is a stunning view and a beautiful job. Wish I had the $; I'd buy it just to stop you from re-using the canvas! It is just too beautiful! Course, you gotta do what you gotta do, right? Have a fabulous trip!
Thank you all for your comments--They encouraged me to take another look at this painting--I've given it a reprieve--will confront it again when we return.
Cecelia - this did not sell because you did not have the right buyer in front of it. I also encourage you to hold on to it and continue to show it.
I'm also in agreement with the others about not painting over this. This is definitely NOT a paintover. Hope you meant it when you said you reconsidered.
:) So glad you rethought this one - I think you will sell this. It is just waiting for its buyer.
Again--thank you all. Your eyes on this work with your valued, positive comments have convinced me to try to get this painting "out' again.
I love this painting and the place. We were there for a very short time and this painting just reminded me I have to do more research in Sedona. I'm glad you reconsidered. You've captured that wionderful spiritual feeling of the place.
