Absolutly amazing portrait--I feel like I know her -- the sweet smile --the expressive eyes--what a great job of rendering her personality--beautiful use of lights and darks--Rembrandt would be proud.
Thank You, Cecelia! You may actually know her, she was with me at few art receptions, so you might just remember the face... or not. :-) Veronika is pretty girl, but working on reference for this painting took for me a while, before we got exactly that light effect I wanted to see. So here it is, thank you to Veronika, my studio lights and Photoshop! :-)
I am not much of a portrait lover, but when one does jump at me, I can admire it- and it is always the eyes that grab me. That is the case with your niece.
It is a technique on painting of eyes, when portrait is looking at you and wouldn't let you go... I learned it long time ago and like it a lot. Gives a feeling of interaction with the painting.
What a pretty dog you have here... I just have to ask: what breed? So pretty!
Thank You, Clare! Portraits...I don't do those too often. Like it, but for right now it is a little bit out of my comfort zone. Need to work more on it.
Wow, Tatiana, you could have fooled me about being out of your comfort zone. I'd love to see your portraits when you get comfortable. I know your niece...you nailed her. What a great painting.
Thank You, Pat! Trust me, I KNOW, when I'm out of my comfort zone. I didn't do portraits forever. This one is just my luck, it turned out so well. I need to work much more, to get it down to something even close to perfection how I understand it. Maybe I will be able to do it. Someday.

Yes, I agree with the others. Lovely portrait with eyes that are so expresive!
Very nice Tatiana. Great job with those eyes but the whole portrait is nicely done.
