"Cherries" by Beth Bathe

"Cherries" 5 x 5, oil on canvas
Here is a small still life, only 5 x 5"! I have been doing a lot of plein air paintings lately, it was nice to do a quiet still life, where the light stayed constant!

Something rustic yet modern - Mark H Brown

I found this scale at an antique store and fell in love with the rusted patina and water stained face.  Rusted metal in soft cool light has a great feel, with the warm earthy brown shadows and bluish to purple soft glow of the northern light.  Of course the bright red cherries explode of the canvas being surrounded by the neutral palette of accompanying objects.  The wood face of the box has yet to exhaust it's interest to my eye.
