Japanese Iris, Watercolor by L Young, 2013
With all the snow laying on the ground, I was feeling like I needed a little breath of spring. I painted these Japanese Iris from a photo I took last year of them growing in my garden. I noticed green shoots pushing through the leaves that protected them from the Winter's cold. Japanese Iris bloom one day and are gone the next; too bad because their delicate little petals are simply beautiful. I wish they lasted longer to enjoy them.
Here today and gone tomorrow.
