"Where the Nymphs Dancing". Pastel, Tatiana Myers.

"Where the Nymphs Dancing"
8 x 8", Pastel on panel.

Latest pastel painting what is still on my easel, but I called it finished.
The same very scene I did a bit earlier in 6x6" format.
This work was painted on Multimedia pastel panel,
however I completely refinished it with my own primer.
I like those panels for their light weight and total durability,
but finish doesn't entirely meet my demand to pastel surface.
My own primer allowed me to apply more layers of pastel,
and this was entirely what I needed...
Now I'm ready to move to my next painting.

Love your loose treatment of pastels, Tatiana. I still can't find the right panel, but it looks like your primer did the trick for you here.

Finding of "just a right panel" takes a lot of time, Dianne. BUT... it also takes practice and Your preferences may change us your experience progresses. For instance when I started 5 years ago I was in love with Ampersand Pastelbord and hated Wallis paper. Now I love Wallis paper, but... it is not available at the moment anywhere because of production issues. Then more we try then easier it gets to adopt to different surfaces. My only suggestion - try all You can, You will find something You like better then the rest.
