"Sun-Dance", pastel. Tatiana Myers.

"Sun-Dance", 14 x 11", pastel.

I was working on this piece off and on for a while.
This is from the reference I took during our 2012 trip to Minnesota,
State what at some point reminding me my native country.
Birches are one of the most common trees in Russia.
My parents house was located right in the middle of beautiful birch forest,
what was always full of light... I miss it here. But I still can paint it.

Great post Tatiana. It made me think about my love of the Hemlock Forests around our family cabin in PA. The canopy is very thick and under the trees it is moist and full of moss and mushrooms. The sun only shines through in spots creating abstract shapes. Sorry to ramble on but a forest of birch trees would be so opposite a hemlock forest. Interesting.

Thank You, ladies!
Yes, Mary Beth, it is pretty different... our forests are full of light and space... Not so much of a bush-brush... plenty of sun-lite openings with wild flowers... I can somewhat compare it to Main here... and somewhat to Minnesota. I almost feel like back home there.
