"Blue Boy", #6 of 30, by Beth Bathe

"Blue Boy", #6/30, 6 x 8 in, oil on linen panel
Living in Lancaster PA, I have the pleasure of being around the Amish, and they are one of my favorite photography subjects. I have hundreds of photos in my reference folders, all tagged for a "potential painting". This photo was taken at a "Mudsale" livestock auction. This little boy blue was deep in thought as he watched the auctionneer.

You may see or buy my other paintings at Daily Paintworks here.

Interesting...many of the Amish do not appreciate being photographed. Yo must have to be sneaky about it. I like the way you handled the shirt.

I use an extremely large telephoto lens, and am very far away. I always shoot so they are unrecognizable. I always respect their personal space.

Wow Beth, I agree with Julie, your blue shirt is fantastic! You really captured the form of a big shirt on a small figure. Nice tension!

Wonderful figurative work. I too like the way you handled the shirt.
