I had never been to Barnstable, MA before, so
my husband and I decided to head in that direction
when we were up there this past September.
We found a treasure...a nature preserve called
the Great Marshes to Cape Cod Trail.  It was a
very hot day (high 90's), but we hiked in about 2 miles and
saw the most incredible landscape.  Gigantic sand dunes
flanked us on the left, and gorgeous marshes
were on the right.  It immediately became one
of my favorite places in Cape Cod.

This painting will be on display at the
Mechanicsburg Art Center in the
Recent Paintings from the Cape exhibit.
The opening reception is December 14,
6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Claire, I love landscapes with lots of open space and fields of different colored grasses stirred by soft breezes and I love horizontal compositions. This work has all of these things plus beautiful bands of color. Therefore Claire--I really LOVE this painting,

I saw this on facebook but it was only a section of the painting on my monitor. This is such a lovely piece and I hope to go to the art center to see the exhibit.

I love this painting, so soft in it's application, it could be a pastel.

I agree with Sharon, I thought it could be pastel...so soft and lovely!
I love the marshy landscape. Looks very much like Chincoteague.
