Creative Freedom Original Painting by Daily Painter of Pennsylvania Mary Beth Brath

Creative Freedom by Mary Beth Brath
30x24" Acrylic on Canvas

In 2012, I participated in an exhibit in Brooklyn NY themed "Celebrate". Painting around a theme is difficult for me. Sometimes I even rebel. The idea of an outside source dictating what I create stirs me up inside. At first, I was stumped and was not sure if I would even enter the exhibit. Finally I sat in total silence in my living room staring at the blank canvas.  When I think about exhibiting in NYC, I think about freedom. This painting shows the old "French Salon". The exploding paint brushes represent the departure from following the "academics" and the freedom to paint And exhibit in the style of my choice.

Thanks Sue. I really enjoyed painting this one. There is such a difference between painting a scene in front of you and completely creating a scene in your mind.
