Plein Air Nocturne by Daily Painter of Pennsylvania Mary Beth Brath

Plein Air Nocturne by Mary Beth Brath
8x10" Acrylic on Canvas
Sold

This summer I painted my first complete Nocturne while on vacation. In addition to my regular plein air equipment, I wore a headlamp. Wow what a challenge. I would cover my headlamp while looking at my subject and then turn to my easel and paint. This was 100% plein air and I did not change anything when I went into our cabin. Fun but difficult. The painting sold within the first week of displaying it at my gallery. A second person wanted the painting but they were too late.

Hi Mary Beth

I can see why it sold...very atmospheric.

Sounds like your lighting was a lot safer than van Gogh's candles in his hat! :-)

Beautiful piece.

Thanks for the wonderful comments everyone. I did not know the facts about Van Gogh. Interesting.

You go girl! Beautiful.

So THAT's why he had candles on his hat. Interesting to say the least! I'm glad we have batteries.
