'Battlefield Blues'
An Original Oil Painting
by Claire Beadon Carnell

Oil on Archival Canvas Panel
24 x 18

I spotted these beautiful blue flowers up
on Little Round Top (Gettysburg Battlefield National Park)
one Summer morning when I had gone up there to paint.
It seems as though every time I go up there I see something
new.  It's such an amazing place, and never fails
to intrigue me.

Note:  This plant is known as Viper's Bugloss
(Echium vulgare), Blue Weed or Blue Devil.

Claire, this is so beautiful. I took a second look when I first saw it. The colors are stunning and draw me in.

Lovely! I guess the plant is quite a weed but it looks great here.
