Gettysburg Farm by Julie Riker

6x12 oil

I spent most of Tuesday in Gettysburg painting with a friend.
This was painted at a historic farm inside the park.
I liked the arrangement of outbuildings and the pattern of shadows as graphic shapes.

I recongnized this scene the moment I saw it; I have painted the Spangler farm from exactly this angle, as well as the front. Your painting is soft and appealing and really holds all the charm of the location. Beautiful job!

And thanks Dianne for sharing the name of the farm...I wasn't sure.

Ok I just looked up "Spangler farm" and apparently there are about 4 Spangler Farms in the Gettysburg area. This particular one is , I think, the Henry Spangler Farm http://gettysburgphotographs.com/gettysburg/Spangler%20Farm/
