Carroll Valley Spring by Larry Lerew

"Carroll Valley Spring"
by Larry Lerew
#13-04-06
Acrylic on Archival Canvas Panel 11 x 14"
First plein air painting of 2013. Drove down Rt. 116 through Fairfield, Pa and spent the morning of Thursday, April 18th painting with my friend Dorothea Barrick at the Carroll Valley Township Park. This bright and colorful painting is how I interpreted a nearby stone farm house on an overcast, drizzly day from under a dry pavilion. The trick is to not really paint what you see but what you feel. Painting is poetic and to many plein air painters are way to literal.

Your creative interpretations are more result of talent than "tricks". This one has your usual spirited brushwork and exciting palette, all held together with those little, jumpy white strokes-so nice, Larry.
