Desert Nocturne by Rebecca Jennings (Sunny)

This is the last painting I had done in the SW desert of Arizona a few weeks ago, and didn't get it posted here. Sometimes life just interrupts our plans and we have to do what needs to be done.  I hope to be back to painting on a regular basis again now.
"Moonlit Desert Near the Mountains of Ajo"
8" x 10' Oil on Canvas
(a "through-the-window" painting)
Boondock camping in the desert near Ajo, Arizona, I awoke early one morning and could not get back to sleep. The moon was very bright and I was enjoying the peacefulness outside my rv window. There is a gigantic cross lit every night on the mountain over the little town of Ajo. It happened to be in perfect view at 3 am that morning. I captured this scene by using my little 4" long flashlight to look at my paint and canvas. I had such fun painting this one!

Thanks for viewing.

This is a wonderful nocturne, Sunny - and I have to say that the cross on top of the mountain really makes this even more special!

Sunny, you sure made good use of insomnia. I, too, love the cross.
