a detail... Dianne Lorden

Here's a detail - bit of a sneak peak - from a large canvas I'm working on. I have not worked in oils in forever, so it's a good experience. I roughed this painting out, and put some paint on it, many years ago. I've carried it around with me for several moves and am glad to now have enough of the right sort of space to be able to "have at it." Funny trying to remember what was on my mind when I planned the scene! Find myself saying, What was I thinking? But that's been a lot of fun, as well, as I've worked on it this winter. I've made updates and adjustments that better match who I am now, too. The best part: I was particular and rather serious, during the time when I first conceived of the notion of this piece. But, now that I'm actually painting it, I'm happy to "wing it!" (That me would have been mortified with this one.) I will post more as I continue. My work can be viewed at South Mountain Sketchbook.
