Water Taxi by Dianne Lorden
This is the pastel I created working en plein air at the Brooklyn waterfront the day we attended the opening for the DPP Coming to Brooklyn show at the Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition (BWAC). I waited all day for the wind to die down a bit - naturally, that doesn't happen along the waterfront, which somehow escaped me at the time. Honestly, I do know better! So, late in the afternoon, I sat down and pastelled the most interesting thing in view: one of the fabulously colorful water taxis. I didn't have my charcoals with me, so added lines and things that required some definition at home. I don't generally cotton to taxis, but they look like fun! My artwork can be viewed at my fine art website: South Mountain Sketchbook, through which I can be reached.

I am so happy you got a chance to get outside on Saturday to paint this. It's fantastic! I was parked near the water taxi and thought "that would make a really great painting." And you did just that!
Great meeting and talking to you and your daughter. Hope our paths cross again soon.
Thanks for sharing this work and I like your post! Nice Work, Dianne!
Thanks! That was a fun day and it was very nice to meet and greet.
