INTO THE DEEP
An Original Plein Air
Oil Painting
by Claire Beadon Carnell

'Into the Deep'
Oil Plein Air
Fuller Lake
Pine Grove Furnace State Park, PA
10 x 8

I love Fuller Lake, and all of the little pockets of beauty
you can find if you just take the time to look.  This spot is
at one end of the lake, and always holds surprises - especially
in Autumn when the colors of the leaves start to change.

The lake itself is very deep (125 feet), and as we discovered while
we were painting, it is also a place enjoyed by scuba divers.
As I was standing on the shore opposite this scene, I heard
some bubbling noises and looked into the water.  About five
feet below the water's surface, two scuba divers were exploring
all the under-water treasures.  The things you see while
painting outdoors - no wonder I like it so much!

Lovely Fall painting, sorry I missed the picnic, it looks like it was a beautiful day to paint en plein air!

It was neat to see the scuba divers there - bet that water was cold.
This is a lovely fall painting Claire! I am happy that so many people were able to paint on Saturday...I was too busy making sure everyone knew where to go so I wasn't able to get my paints out.

The colors are just right with the red tree in front seeming to jump off the page. Nice rhythm too.
