Bucher Mansion at Children's Lake, Boiling Springs, Pa. Watercolor painting by Linda Young

Linda Young, artist
Bucher Mansion and Lake
9 x 12" Watercolor
Painted at the Boiling Springs Lake, this is the Bucher Mansion which is not occupied. The mansion is a historic location in the heart of Boiling Springs and I think, would make a wonderful Bed and Breakfast location. Many artists have captured it's beauty in oil, pastel, drawing, watercolor and much more. On this fall day a group of plein air artists gathered to paint the fall colors at Children's Lake. I first chose the mansion because of the sunlight and shadows on the structure and the colors surrounding it only complimented it even more.
Painted with VanGogh/Royal Talens watercolors which I received as a door prize at a recent Pennsylvania Watercolor Society annual meeting; this was the first time to try these paints.  I like them because they stayed fairly soft and moist during the paint out and their colors were bright and fresh.  It was a windy and chilly day and a tough test for painting with water outdoors.  I can say for sure, Van Gogh/RoyalTalens is a Great product!
