Taking a moment in crazy August!

Hi all! My daughter's wedding is Sunday, and I've been involved in many hand-crafted projects that have put painting on the "back burner" for now. Plus, I spent the weekend at a retreat that was scheduled at least as long ago as the wedding.
So, it's been crazy!
However, I stole some time by my corner garden, with a limited set of oil pastels, to enjoy the changes there with a quick illustration: coneflowers are waning, but mums are starting to open; the vinca bed is going gangbusters, and scallions are erecting their round, white blooms; roses are getting ready for a brilliant second round, too. (And they'd looked pretty awful by the end of July, so I pruned 'em with my fingers crossed!) Even a quick, simple session can prove calming and grounding - the healing magic of nature!
My artwork can be seen at South Mountain Sketchbook.
