This is typical of the alley ways near my house and studio. I've always
liked them but only recently started doing an entire series of
paintings. These new pieces get to the essence of city life. I
especially enjoy describing the texture and shapes as they recede in the
distance.

Lots to like in this painting--its composition of shapes and colors--its depth and its pattern of shadows and wonderful telephone lines-another example of your elevation of the ordinary into art.
Great light - great shapes! I have been looking at the alleys around my house differently since taking your workshop. I seem to notice new things and was actually thinking of doing some paintings or my more "rural" alleyways.
I love the light and shadows, and how you pull us right into the painting with those bits of sunlit buildings! Wonderful painting, Ron!
So much detail for a small painting..I'd like to see the series!
Ron--I just watched the video you referred to in Julie's post-not sure if it was meant to be humorous, but it both saddened and gladdened me-the sweet song touched me and his simple technigues reminded me that I would watch his show to pick up some simple tricks to incorporate into some 5th grade lessons-the techniques I chose were always effective, which made the kids feel successful and happy and I felt encouraged them to go further.
