Clouds Rolling In, plein air, Dianne Lorden

I did this a few years back, and Michael LeKite's recent posting of the lovely beach scene he's working on reminded me of this. I had forgotten about this pastel - a storm came rolling in and folks started folding up their chairs & umbrellas after I'd begun working. The scene really cleared out! Probably a good thing, as it got less complicated to create. I remember it poured. My work can be seen at South Mountain Sketchbook.

The storm elements are very prominent. I see there are still a few brave lingering souls :) A very good composition and story.

This is such a lovely view, and a reminder that the warm days(in our case - the very HOT days) of Summer are slowly winding down. Your work always has such an inviting narrative, Dianne.
