A Taste of Japan by Thom Glace

Amago -Japanese Trout- Resident Form
Image Size: 11" x 5"

Masu Salmon (Also called Cherry Salmon)
in Spawning Colors- Known in Japan as Wedding Dress.
Image Size: 17" x 8"

When I found out about the Asian Masu Salmon, and saw the
striking markings, I could not resist adding the unique
species found only in Japan, Taiwan & Korea.

Believe it or not- The Amago is actually the juvenile form
found in fresh water of the Masu Salmon. After 1 to 3 years
in freshwater most of the Amago become Sea-Run Masu Salmon.
A percentage stay in freshwater and breed similar to freshwater
trout species. After 3 to 5 years at sea, the Masu Salmon returns
to freshwater and changes into 'wedding dress'.

'Love the colors of the Masu Salmon.
He looks Japanese with his markings
and bold red color.
