SPRING MORNING ON LITTLE ROUND TOP
Gettysburg National Military Park
An Original Oil Painting
by Claire Beadon Carnell

'Spring Morning on Little Round Top'
Gettysburg National Military Park
Oil on stretched canvas
18 x 24

Yes, I am still painting rocks...can't resist them!  This is done
from notes, sketches and photos I took while up at
Little Round Top at the Gettysburg National Military Park
earlier this Spring when the redbuds were blooming.  I
loved the way the morning sun was working its way
up over the rocks.

Beautiful, Claire ! Your rocks are awesome! The light seems to carry you through the painting to the source.

You really ROCK! :)

Thank you, Julie! There are quite a few 'paintings waiting to happen' up at Little Round Top - most of which would include the incredible rock formations up there.

No, Linda - I just have rocks in my head!!!! :)

Not at all Claire, the rocks you are painting are great...but a golf teacher told me once "be the ball" to play better. If you have those rocks in your head, keep them there; they are working great in your rock paintings.

I really enjoy the airiness of the tree tops and the weight in the rocks.

I think one of the reasons I like the rocks up at Gettysburg so much is because of all of the history they hold...they have 'seen' quite a lot.

Thank you, Patricia - I think that very contrast was another factor that made me want to paint this.

Claire, you just have a way with rocks and trees- such a wonderful balance to your colors and compositions- such a pleasure to look at.
